Annelies Roberts

Annelies Roberts, age 87 of Pleasureville, passed away at her home on Monday June 23, 2025 surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late Alfred and Erna Gotwald, she made a career managing the cafeteria of Eastern Elementary School for over 20 years. Annelies was an example of bravery and strength of will. She was born in eastern Germany a few years before World War II in the Schlesien region of Eastern Germany in a town called Huttenguth. She and her family were expelled from their home shortly after the conclusion of the war, when the region was returned to Poland. Annelies survived refugee camps, famine and the unimaginable horrors associated with war. At 23 years old, she once again demonstrated strength and courage. Even though she didn’t speak English and had never been outside the borders of Germany, she decided to say “yes” to Randall Roberts. She then relocated to Henry County, Kentucky to marry Randall and start a new life.

Annelies is survived by her husband of 64 years, Randall Roberts of Pleasureville; son, Mario Roberts of Pleasureville; daughter, Christiana Evans (Gordon Spencer) of Eminence; grandchildren, John Roberts (Sarah), David Roberts (Stephanie), Randy Evans (Annie), James Evans and Matthew Evans (Kristin) and great-grandchildren, Dalton Roberts, Axle Roberts, Oliver Roberts and step great-granddaughter, Adaleigh Roberts.

Visitation: 5 to 8 pm on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 11 am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, Officiated by Pastor Carla D’Alessio, pastor of Point Pleasant Christian Church.

Burial: Franklinton Cemetery

Her strength and courage were again demonstrated when, at 23 years old, she said “yes” to Randall Roberts. Even though she did not speak English and had never been outside of Germany, she moved to Henry County Kentucky to marry Randall and start a new life.
