Bertha Chadwell

Bertha (Batts) Chadwell, age 87 of New Castle passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Bertha worked in the restaurant industry for many years. Bertha was the daughter of the late Raymond & Katherine (Burch) Batts and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Calvin Chadwell and daughter, Linda Downey. Bertha loved to go fishing and camping.

Daughter: Brenda Kelley (Dwayne) of Shelbyville

Son: Larry Baxter (Valerie) of Shelbyville

3 Stepchildren: Monica, Karen & Calvin

Brother: Denny Batts of Carrollton

Several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren

Graveside Service: 11 AM on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Port Royal Cemetery. Officiated by Kevin Clark.

Pallbearers will be Keith Baxter, Clarene Tingle, Alan Bond, Austin Baxter, Kayla Tingle, Todd Kelley, Brent Bond & Dustin Baxter

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the New Castle Nursing & Rehab Activity Department or Henry – Trimble County Humane Society
