The family of Brayden Tyler Sturgeon are deeply grieved to announce the passing of their beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was born on December 15, 2007, and died on October 2, 2026, at the University of Kentucky after being critically injured in a recent car accident. He left the world surrounded by his loving family and friends at the young age of 18.
Brayden was so loved by his family and friends. He was a young man with many interests. He loved to work the ground, plant seeds and proudly show his harvest. He enjoyed building things with his hands, especially woodworking. His greatest accomplishment was a piano bench he made his mother with the help of his neighbor. He would fish for hours and never got frustrated if he never caught anything. He just loved the process. You could find him cooking in the kitchen and his specialty was chicken pot pie. He was an avid reader. He loved highly technical board games with lots of rules, pieces and took days to learn to play. He was so smart. Math, Science and Latin were his best subjects. He loved all genres of music and could play the violin, viola, piano and guitar. He loved pocket knives, acting, and chess. He will be remembered for his goofy ways: making faces and doing almost anything to get people to laugh, his adventurous spirit, and his cheeky grin.
Brayden graduated in May from homeschool through Trinitas Classical School. He regularly attended Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville and was very involved in his youth group. His first job was at All Porked Out in Pleasureville, KY, where he enjoyed working in the kitchen and eating all the food, especially the loaded nachos. He was currently employed by Shuck Fence in Shelbyville, KY. He had enlisted in the US Air Force and was looking forward to setting out on October 20, 202 to begin basic training.
How do you sum up a beautiful life in just a few words? He will truly be missed. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, thoughts, texts, love and support during this time. It has made this tragedy more bearable. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Irish Proverb
