Elizabeth Mae Williams (Libby) of Shelbyville, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, KY at 80 years old.
Born January 11, 1946, in Indianapolis, IN, Libby was the daughter of Lacy and Jenny Mae Wilson.
She was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt.
Libby was a florist at Rose Hill Florist for many years as well as a factory worker at Electrowire and AFL in Shelbyville, but much of her life was dedicated to being a farmer’s wife (and farmer), and raising and caring for her children, grand, and great grandchildren. Of all of the titles that she ever held, being “Granny” was by far her absolute favorite.
She enjoyed reading, gardening (flowers), old country and gospel music, watching true crime shows on the ID Channel, coloring, jigsaw/word puzzles, snacking on junk food, fussing just because at the grandkids, porch sitting, and napping.
In addition to her late parents, Lacy and Jenny Mae Wilson, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Jimmy Williams, Stella Williams (daughter), Glen Wilson (brother), Richard Wilson (brother), Austin James Williams (grandson), and Janiel Moberley (granddaughter).
She is survived by/ remembered by her brother, David Wilson, 4 sisters, Angie Gordon (Bob), Carolyn Kirby (Wayne), Rachel Truesdale (little bit), and Serena Lewis (Larry), her children, Anna Koopikka (Dennis), Bud Williams (Robin), Freida Bohannon (Paul), Frances Sanders (Edward), Brenda Joyce Cox (Chris), and Julia Williams, granddaughter, Chandra Roberts (Jayme), grandsons, David Roberts (Kristen), Terry Thomas Taylor, Kurtis Kinderman, Adam Gardner, and Roy Rose Jr. As well as several other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Above all else, her greatest love in life was her family. She treasured every gathering, visit, conversation, and every moment spent with those that she loved so much. She was feisty, had the vocabulary of a sailor sometimes, and always spoke her mind without hesitation, but loved deeply and was full of kindness and generosity. Her presence will be truly missed and her absence felt by all who knew and loved her.
