Frances (Sturgeon) Mitchell

Frances (Sturgeon) Mitchell , Age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at The Village at Hamilton Pointe Assisted Living. Daughter of the late Charles and Helen Sturgeon, she was a lifelong educator. A special education teacher for over 40 years, she taught her final two decades of teaching at A.B. Chandler Elementary School in Henderson, Kentucky. A faithful Christian, she was an involved member and deacon at the old Newburgh Presbyterian Church. Her favorite past time was spending time with her beloved family, especially her two grandchildren, Isla and Maslyn.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Kimpel (Jason) of Zionsville, Indiana; her son, John Mitchell of Bloomington, Indiana; and her Grandchildren, Isla and Maslyn Kimpel of Zionsville, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Sturgeon.

A private graveside service will be held at Port Royal Cemetery with the Reverend Earl Wayne Perry officiating.
