Henrietta (Parker) Smith

Henrietta (Parker) Smith, of New Castle, KY, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the age of 92. Born in Paris, Kentucky, Henrietta was the daughter of Walter Parker and Geneva Scott. She was a graduate of Western High School, class of 1952. Henrietta continued her education and graduated from Kentucky State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, in 1956. Upon graduation she began her teaching career at King Street School and completed her 35 year teaching career at Eminence Independent School.

On August 4, 1957 Henrietta married John W. Smith, Jr. and together they had a daughter, Pamella Jean. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Henrietta walked faithfully with God throughout her life. She was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church, where she found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service. She served as an usher, principal of Vacation Bible School, member of Mammoth Chorus, and a member of the kitchen committee. She believed firmly in God’s eternal promise and now rests peacefully, reunited with loved ones and welcomed home by her Savior. Henrietta always enjoyed spending time with her family members and cherished her time with her three grandchildren. She will be forever remembered for her love, strength, and the legacy she leaves behind in all who were fortunate enough to know her. Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Smith, Jr. and her son-in-law, Gregory Henderson.

Survived by include her daughter, Pamella Henderson of Middleburg, FL, grandchildren, Marques Henderson, Maya Henderson, and Marissa Henderson of Pasadena, MD, sister-in-law Lillian Tucker (Milton) of Fayetteville, GA, brother in-law William E. Smith (Wanda) of Louisville, KY as well as nieces and nephews and a host of friends and former students.

Funeral Service: 11 AM Friday, May 1, 2026 at Main Street Baptist Church, New Castle Officiated by Rev. Iman Martin

Pallbearers: James Marshall, David Marshall, Danny Fisher, Greg Harris, Kim Goodloe & Sonny Mays

Interment: New Castle G.U.O.O.F. Cemetery
