Illene Phillips

Illene (Varney) Phillips, age 88 of LaGrange, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Daughter of the late Garland and Vesta (Curry) Varney. Illene was a member of Sligo Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dearl Phillips & Kermit Phillips; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Dawn (Harlow) Phillips; twin sister, Imogene Monday; sisters, Barbara Ann Slone and Demmedo Lemaster; brother, David Garland Varney and step son-in-law, David Ward. Illene was cremated.

Sons: Darrell Gregory Phillips (Floretta) of Bedford Timothy Wayne Phillips of Pendleton Richard Kermit Phillips (Doretha) of Pendleton

Siblings: Melvin Varney of Phyllis, KY Faye Stiltner of Ohio Freddie Varney of Kimper, KY Darrell Ray Varney of Kimper, KY

Step-son: Alan Phillips (Roma) of Pikeville, KY

Step-daughter: Rhinda Ward of Tennessee 

5 Grandchildren: Angela Anderson (Duane), Karen Goff (Steven), Crystal Shay (Thomas), Sydney Randall (J.R.) and Caleb Phillips

4 Great Grandchildren: Daniel Shay, Emily Goff, Belle Randall and one on the way, Judah Randall

Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Sligo Baptist Church (65 Cr-1309, Pendleton, KY 40055)

Visitation will be from 10 AM Wednesday until service time.  There will also be a bereavement dinner held at the church following the services and all are welcome.

There will be no services at Prewitt Funeral Home.
