Jean Allison “Millie” Dempsey, age 98, of Pendleton, formerly of Louisville, passed away peacefully at her Henry County residence on Friday, May 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born to the late Gene and Myrtle (Sticken) Dempsey, Millie was a devoted daughter, friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She dedicated more than three decades of her life as a bookkeeper for the Louisville-Metro Health Department, where her hard work and attention to detail earned the respect of her colleagues. In her retirement, Millie’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to open the Pleasureville Café alongside her family. She cherished the simple pleasures of life: maintaining her beloved home in St. Matthews, spending days on the family farm, and staying active through gardening and yardwork. Well into her 90s, she could still be found push-mowing the lawn, a testament to her strong will and independence. Millie had a deep love for animals, and found comfort and companionship with her dogs throughout her life. Her connection to nature was quiet and enduring, often reflected in the way she cared for her garden and enjoyed a walk outdoors. She also loved painting, drawing, ceramics and traveling as time allowed. To those who knew her, Millie was steadfast, resilient, and kind. She led by example and took pride in a life well lived.
