Kenneth Spies

Kenneth “Kenny” Spies, known to many as “Mouse,” was 62 years old when he passed away on September 22, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kenny was born on January 19, 1964 to Donald and Mildred Spies. For more than 30 years, Kenny was a friendly and valued presence at Safety-Kleen where he built countless friendships with the people he worked alongside. Away from work, Kenny enjoyed the simple life. He could often be found grilling chicken wings, listening to music, and working on projects around the yard. Those who knew him will remember him for supper time Snapchats, his hot sauce collection, and the Point Pleasant Pounders. More than anything, Kenny loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and pawpaw. Nothing made him happier than being with his family. Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Spies, father, Donald Spies, and sister, Sandy Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Wendy (Chism) Spies of Eminence; his children, Brandee Spies of Michigan and Kassidy Crenshaw (Chris) of Eminence; his grandchildren, Nyla Dattoli, Autumn Dattoli, Marshal Keating Jr, Millie Crenshaw, and Kash Crenshaw; brother, Donald “Gus” Spies (Kay) of Lawrenceburg and sister, Carrie Scheer (Mark) of Eminence and many extended family members, friends, and coworkers who loved him deeply.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.

Funeral Service celebrating Kenny’s life will be 2 PM Sunday, September 27, 2026. Bro. Larry Montgomery will be officiating.

Burial will follow at New Castle Cemetery.

Kenny’s life will not be remembered simply by the years he lived, but by the people he loved, the friendships he made, the work he took pride in, and the countless ordinary moments that became treasured memories for those fortunate enough to know him.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Hosparaus.
