In Loving Memory of Leo Sandmann III Leo Joseph Sandmann III, 66, of Southern Indiana, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025. He was born on January 17, 1959, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Leo Joseph Sandmann II and Dolores Sandmann, who survive him.

Leo proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran from 1979 to 1983, traveling the world before returning home. During his service, he developed a love for adventure and camaraderie that never left him. After his naval career, he met the love of his life, Elaine, in Huntington, New York. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family, ultimately settling in Southern Indiana and Louisville, where they raised their son.

Leo was a lifelong Boy Scout whose sense of duty, resourcefulness, and love of the outdoors shaped the man he became. He had a passion for motorcycles, antiques, grilling and smoking meats, and savoring a good bourbon. Known for his stubborn streak, crooked grin, and quick wit, he was often the first to bring light to difficult moments with a joke. His kindness and generosity were unmatched—he was truly the man who would give you the shirt off his back.

Leo is survived by his devoted wife, *Elaine Sandmann*; his son, *Jonathan Sandmann (Semra Sandmann)*; his parents, *Leo Joseph Sandmann II and Dolores Sandmann*; and his brothers, *David Sandmann (Jennifer Sandmann)* and *Doug Sandmann (Erin Sandmann)*.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.

There will be a Full Military Honored Memorial Graveside Service on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 Nort Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, Kentucky 40160.
