Linda Allnutt Purvis, age 83 of Eminence, passed away on Tuesday, February 3rd. Linda was a teacher, working at Pleasureville and Campbellsburg Elementary Schools, and finishing her career at Henry County Middle School. Linda was a 1960 graduate of Eminence High School where she was on the varsity cheerleading squad and involved in multiple clubs. Linda also participated in beauty pageants, winning the 1960 Miss Henry County Basketball crown. She continued her education at Kentucky Southern College, earning her Bachelor’s degree in education and later completed her Master’s degree in education from Georgetown College. Linda began dating her husband, Jack when they were both in high school and they were married nearly 50 years before Jack's untimely passing. Linda loved to express herself creatively. She was owner and operator of a ceramics studio called the Drip Drop Shop where people could come together to take pottery classes and socialize. Linda was an animal lover from her youth. Her life started and ended with her soul dogs. Linda’s first dog, Pee Wee and last dog, Gypsy were always at her side showering her with endless love and the type of protection that only small, yippy dogs can provide. Linda also loved horses, especially her stallion, Buck, who lived up to his name. She was an avid horseback rider throughout her youth. Linda was a life-long lover of the beach and ocean, taking multiple trips to Florida starting with her high school senior class trip. She also loved to travel just about anywhere with her husband Jack. Later in life, Linda loved spending time outside watching nature and gardening.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Oliver Clem; step-father, J.B. Clem; father, Russell Allnutt; brother, Joe Allnutt; niece, Debbie Allnutt; nephew, Willy Allnutt; and husband, Jack Purvis.
She is survived by her daughters, Leslie and Brandie Purvis; her doggy daughter, Gypsy; her nephews Mike Allnutt and Gary Dees; and her niece Teresa Allnutt.
Memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11th at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Walker Officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM Wednesday, the 11th until time of service at Prewitt Eminence Funeral Home.
