Logan Jewell DeWitt, age 9, passed away on Monday, February 2, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 28, 2017, Logan brought joy, laughter, and kindness to everyone who was blessed enough to encounter her, if even for a moment.

Logan had a spirit of joy and a heart overflowing with love and spitfire responses. Her positive personality effortlessly captured the hearts of so many & pulled the best out of them. Despite the trials she encountered, Logan chose to see the positive every day. How could others not follow her lead? She simply changed people in that way—her entire community, in fact.

Logan found joy in so many things, such as her special doggie, JoJo; her baby dolls and stuffed animals- especially Robert; and singing along to her favorite songs in the car. Topping that list of favorite things was her time at New Castle Elementary School, where she enjoyed being the “teacher’s assistant” and sharing childhood giggles with her classmates.

She was gifted in the area of winning. Especially when it came to a good ol’ argument. By the time her piece was said, she would have the other participant believing that they had agreed with her all along.

Logan was fearfully and wonderfully made—a perfect blend of sass, humor, spunk, wit, confidence, kindness, and beauty that beamed from the inside out. Her God-given “gift of grit” was only grown stronger by being the only girl in a family of four boys.

At the tender age of nine, Logan had reached a level of maturity in compassion that many adults never develop. The fullness of that maturity was measured by her deep love for her family and for those who had won Logan’s heart. Those relationships meant the world to her. Being wise beyond her years had taught Logan what was truly important —and Logan taught us.

Simply by being herself and never meeting a stranger, Logan inspired others to be better versions of themselves. Courageous and strong beyond our understanding, she lived as a true warrior. Her legacy is one of bravery and love.

Her impact was profound, her love was far-reaching, and her memory is forever carried by those she has changed.

Though we find hope in our trust that Logan is secure in our Heavenly Father’s arms, we grieve a loss beyond our earthly measure. She is and will be deeply missed.

We hope and pray that others keep her memory alive by living like Logan.
