Markula “Markie” Dale Cardone, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister,
and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at Gainesville Memorial Hospital in
Gainesville, Georgia. She was 71 years old.
Markie was born on February 26, 1955, at NAS Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Reba
Mitchell and James Mitchell, a proud member of the United States Navy. As the daughter of a
Navy family, Markie experienced a childhood filled with adventure and change, moving 39 times
over 18 years as her family traveled from coast to coast before eventually settling in Memphis,
Tennessee.
She attended Frayser Assembly of God Church and graduated from Frayser High School in
1973. After beginning business studies, Markie chose a different path, marrying Edgar Jackson
and devoting herself to raising their two children, Jimmie and Christina "Chrisie". Their
marriage lasted until 2003.
Throughout her life, Markie was known for her servant’s heart and compassion for others. She
dedicated many years to volunteering with the Memphis Hemophilia Foundation and was
actively involved with the Tennessee Hemophilia & Bleeding Disorders Foundation. Her
commitment to the hemophilia community eventually led her to work with several
pharmaceutical companies that specialized in hemophilia blood products, allowing her to
continue serving and advocating for families affected by bleeding disorders.
In 2004, Markie met the love of her life, Michael Cardone, and they were married. Together they
built a life rooted in faith, friendship, and family. They lived in Memphis and later Olive Branch,
Mississippi, where Markie became a devoted member of Longview Heights Baptist Church. In
2019, Markie and Michael relocated to Buford, Georgia, to be closer to her daughter,
grandchildren, and growing family.
Markie spent many years extensively volunteering with Beautiful Feet Ministry, She believed
deeply in offering hope, encouragement and practical support to those in need.
Above all else, Markie loved her family. She cherished every opportunity to gather with her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating life's milestones and everyday
moments alike. She was a constant source of love and support, creating memories that will be
treasured for generations.
Markie also found joy in God’s creation. She loved spending time at the lake, watching the birds,
caring for her scotties, listening to the waves at the ocean, and sharing conversations over a good
cup of coffee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Reba Mitchell; her brother, Michael E.
Mitchell; and her beloved aunt, Anne Wentworth.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, Michael Cardone; her son, Jimmie Jackson
