Raymond J. Wright, Sr.

Raymond Jordan Wright, Sr., age 91 of Eminence, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Son of the late John Jackson and Elnore (Foree) Wright, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Christy Wright; a son, Raymond Wright, Jr.; three sisters, Lucille Spencer, Laura Virginia Mason and Anna Mae Smith; and four brothers, Willie Joe, Owen T., John, Jr. and Bobby Wright.

Raymond Wright was a devoted Christian, beloved father, mentor, leader, and a cherished pillar of his family and community. He was a man whose life was rooted in faith, love, wisdom, and service to others.

Born November 14, 1934 in Eminence, Kentucky, Raymond was blessed with a life filled with purpose and meaning. His faith in God guided him throughout his journey, and he carried that faith into everything he did. He believed in the importance of family, treating others with kindness, and leaving a positive impact wherever he went.

As a father, Raymond was a source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love. He took great pride in his children and family, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and a listening ear. His role extended far beyond being a father—he was a mentor and teacher whose words and example helped shape the lives of those around him.

Raymond was also a respected leader in his community. He believed in helping others, giving back, and using his life experiences to encourage and inspire those who crossed his path. His presence brought strength and wisdom to his family, friends, and community.

Raymond’s legacy is not simply found in the years he lived, but in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the faith he shared. His family will forever carry the memories of his laughter, his wisdom, his strength, and the countless ways he showed them what it meant to love and serve others.

Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that Raymond’s faith has become sight. His earthly journey is complete, and his legacy of love, faith, family, leadership, and service will continue through the generations.

Daughters: Joy Watkins (Lloyd) of Louisville , Jackie Wright of Louisville, and Myra Moore (Donnie) of Louisville

Grandchildren: Brian Dixie, Mikel Wright (Tarryn), Lindsey Redd (Chris), Tyler Moore, Alyssa Jacobs and Chelsey Thrasher

Visitation:  6 to 8 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Eminence First Baptist Church.

Funeral Service: 1 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Eminence First Baptist Church. 

Interment: Eminence Cemetery
