“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” Matthew 7:12
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Lee Cauble, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful brother, and cherished friend. Rob left this world on October 9, 2025, at the age of 92, in LaGrange Kentucky. Rob was a kind and generous man making every effort to live his life according to the golden rule.
Rob was born on November 3, 1932, in Howard Township, Washington County, Indiana to Lotus and Mabel (Davis) Cauble, growing up near Beck’s Mill. After graduating from Salem High School in May 1952, he answered the call of duty, serving honorably in the United States Airforce until 1955. He took his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas and then shipped to Chanute AFB, Illinois for training as an aircraft welder and then served overseas during the Korean war. His time in uniform instilled in him a lifelong sense of discipline, humility, and service – values he carried into every chapter that followed.
After leaving the Airforce, Rob worked for B. F. Goodrich in Salem, Indiana for a short time and then was employed by Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, Indiana. While working at Cummins, Rob started a local appliance delivery business which ultimately grew to become a franchise for Wheaton Van Lines and Global Van Lines. Both companies provided household moving services worldwide.
Rob married Clara Ann (Roop) in 1957 and together they raised their three children in Columbus, Indiana and in 1993 bought 90 acres of undeveloped land in Smithfield, KY near where their grandchildren were being raised. They developed the property, building a nice home and a 12-acre lake. Rob raised cattle and goats and had a produce stand during the summers at the intersection of 146 and 153 in Henry County, KY where he enjoyed talking and sharing stories with other residents and farmers in the area. Rob and Clara remained in Smithfield until 2023 when they moved to The Springs at Oldham Reserve in Lagrange, KY.
Rob was a devoted member of the Oldham Woods Church of Christ.
Rob is preceded in death by his mother and father, Lotus and Mable Cauble, sister Iva Lou Starr, brother Harold Cauble, sister Francis Myers, and sister Virgina Baynes.
Rob leaves behind his wife of sixty-eight years, Clara Ann (Roop) Cauble, daughter, Lynn Josowitz, son, Eric Cauble, son, Evan Cauble (Amber), grandchildren, Kara Taylor (Wyatt), Derek Cauble, Robbie Cauble (Kierstin), Dana Hughes (Jordan), Rylee Cauble, great granddaughters, Kylee and Blakelee, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Officiated by Harold Bratton.
