Roger Garrett Taylor, 71, of Smithfield, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Wednesday December 24,2025 in his home. A devoted family man, trusted friend, and steady presence in the community, Roger lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and quiet strength.
Born and raised in Henry County, Kentucky, Roger built a life grounded in hard work and a deep connection to his family’s land, carrying forward a proud legacy as he established his third‑generation farming practice. A graduate of Henry County High School in 1972, he went on to attend the University of Kentucky and upon graduating, married his high school sweetheart, Candace Bush Taylor. Together, they raised two boys, Benjamin and Daniel, on the family farm.
He was known for his easy smile, his willingness to lend a hand, and his ability to make others feel welcome. Whether sharing stories on the porch, offering thoughtful advice, or showing up when someone needed him most, Roger had a gift for making people feel seen and supported.
In addition to farming, Roger served on several boards as he believed it was important to give back to the community. He was a valued board member of United Citizens Bank & Trust, Shelby RECC, Western District Warehouse, and Watershed Conservancy District Board.
Roger cherished his family above all else. He was a proud father, grandfather, and brother, and he poured his heart into every role he held. His friends and loved ones will remember him for his steady guidance, valuable mentorship, his soft humor, and the deep love he carried for those closest to him.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roger Garrett Taylor and mother, Dorothy Jean Taylor.
