Wendell Erdman Berry

Wendell Erdman Berry, age 92 passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home Monday, August 31, 2026. The Berry Center and Berry family are heartbroken. Wendell was a writer and farmer of Port Royal, Henry County, Kentucky. His work continues, here and in every place where people aim to live according to nature’s measure, on and with and of their beloved home place.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Tanya, daughter Mary (Steve Smith) and son Den Berry (Billie), Grandchildren Katie Johnson (Jimmy), Virginia Berry Aguilar (Ben), Tanya Smith, Emily Berry, and Marshall Berry, and great-granddaughters Charlcye, Wendy, Lucinda, and Eleanor. He is also survived by sisters Martha and Mary Jo, and is preceded in death by brother John Berry, Jr.
